Originally Sally Bond Gillam’s sitting room, the Abagail Harden Room was created during John Bell’s upgrade of the house during the 1980s, as he wanted to ensure there would be sufficient rooms for his many guests. During the late-1990s, an attached bath was added, and two walk-in closets created.
This cozy guest room features two antique sleigh beds, as well as a Victorian-style desk and a “sword” chair, originally designed to accommodate the swords that were a mandatory part of US Cavalry officers’ dress uniforms. Candelabra wall sconces and Victorian-period decorations adorn the walls.
